What is Procurement Lead Time?

Total PLT is ALT plus production time.

What happens when actual PLT exceeds estimated PLT?


When a supplier's delivery slips beyond the contracted delivery date, the contractor faces a choice: seek to accelerate delivery (often at premium cost), redesign around the late component, or accept a schedule slip to the prime contract. Each option carries cost and schedule implications that must be communicated to the contracting officer promptly. Is PLT the same as lead time in commercial supply chains?
